Cinematography Breakdown-The Witches Crow

The Witches Crow- Horror In A Grocery Store

This short film called for something dingy and sickly. I wanted the lighting package to be minimal and mobile as possible since we were shooting nights and in such a big location.

The Shot: OTS

A conversation between manager and employee

Lighting:

Our lighting package was very minimal for this short film. Camera right we had a Kino Flo Celeb on a rolling stand so we can move that thing around fast. We also added some bleached muslin draped over the front to really soften off. Camera left we used some negative fill to add contrast and shape. The rest was just the store lights in the background.

The Shot:

Camera dollies back in a medium shot as our security guard is unaware of the monster

Lighting:

The only lighting that we used here was the fluorescent tubes inside the fridges keying our main actress. Camera left, we brought in some 4x4 floppies to create some shape.

The Shot:

medium shot of our female lead as she reads incantations from a book.

Lighting:

We were in the backroom of the grocery store for this scene. A final showdown for our main characters against the monster. I was able to have some control of the fluorescent practical lights in the room. Camera left was our practical, then I supplemented that with a single quasar tube wrapped in bleach muslin. Camera right we added a 4x4 floppy for some shape.

The Shot: Insert of the spell book

Lighting: Camera right we kept the practicals on and supplemented with the Quasar tube. Camera left we brought in some negative fill to give some contrast to the hands and book.
